Breakthrough in 1991 Texas Yogurt Shop Murders Offers Hope for Unsolved Cases: 'There Are Additional Victims Still Unidentified'.
On a Friday in December 1991, seventeen-year-old Jennifer Harbison and Eliza Thomas, each aged 17, were wrapping up at the frozen yogurt shop where they were employed. Remaining for a ride home were Jennifer’s younger sister, 15-year-old Sarah Harbison, and her friend, Amy Ayers, who was 13.

Each defendant asserted they gave confessions following marathon interviews in the late 1990s. In 2009, the two were freed after their verdicts were overturned due to court rulings on admissions absent forensic proof.
The district attorney's office withdrew the prosecution against the defendants in that year after a DNA analysis, called Y-STR, indicated neither individual aligned against the genetic material recovered from the murder site.
Modern Technology Solves Case

Linking Multiple Crimes
